Ten years ago, I:
01| Was a 15 year old sophomore at Bayside High School in Virginia Beach.
02| Was a thespian (highly involved in Drama Club) and doing my first acting.
03| Was a smartypants. Or at least, everybody thought I was...Alright, I was top of my class.
Five years ago, I:
01| Was a junior at Virginia Tech, majoring in Biology and Computer Science, and worked at NRL during the summer.
02| Was a Resident Advisor living in West Eggleston, at my height of football game enjoyment, and friends with a lot of guys on my hall.
03| Learned about IRC, and met some really cool people.
One year ago, I:
01| Was living with Greg in our supernice townhouse with Maia (cat).
02| Was reluctantly working on my Master's degree in CS at Virginia Tech.
03| Was miserable, crying several times a week.
So far this year, I:
01| Moved to a completely different area (rural NC) and started teaching 8th grade science.
02| Live in a house in the middle of nowhere with Maia and Clancy (cats).
03| Hardly ever cry, even when the kids are awful. Thank God for medicine.
Today, I:
01| Am sick, again, from being a first year teacher. This time at least it's only a head cold/cough.
02| Am going to get dressed, go shopping for Thanksgiving food, and grade some papers.
03| Will start cleaning the house to get ready for my family next week.
Tomorrow, I:
01| Will continue cleaning... it's not every year I'll host my first Thanksgiving dinner.
02| Will probably still have grading left to do.
03| Will do laundry...gee, it's going to be an exciting weekend.
In one year, I will:
01| Hopefully have more of a handle on discipline in my classroom.
02| Be done with the extra classes I need to be fully licensed to teach.
03| Have made some friends down here in Christianville, I hope - maybe some that don't think "liberal" is a bad word and be dancing again more regularly.
In five years, I will:
01| Probably have moved somewhere else.
02| Have decided whether to keep teaching or work on becoming instructional technologist.
03| Be someone who has fun at nights and on the weekends instead of working all the time.

As you know, I've been looking for a teaching job. One of the districts (in North Carolina) I gave a resume to at a job fair called asking me if I'd like to interview for an Instructional Technology position. I know the basic job description for Instructional Technology but I'd really like to get a more personal description to get a feel for what the person actually does.
Is anyone here an Instructional Technology specialist/facilitator? If so, could you describe some of what you do? Or, if not - can you tell me anything about what the Instructional Technology specialist does at your school?

Copying Trissy..not sure what her list was for, but I thought it'd be neat to figure out what mine is. Frankly, I think I've at least visited the most interesting states, excepting Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, and possibly North Dakota (I may have visited that state, but I can't recall so I'm not going to count it). That's a fairly short list compared to the starting one!

As far as I can tell-- I'm going to be TEACHING next semester! The class is Computer Science: A Liberal Arts Approach. I get my very own gta to boss around and everything. Yay!
On the other side of things...I'm asking for an incomplete in my 6204 class because I can't finish the project by tomorrow (argh). I'm hoping this doesn't adversely affect the teaching job... (crossing fingers). I've never had to ask for incompletes or extensions or anything before and I'm kinda mad at myself that I do this time. But at the same time relieved because I have been having trouble just sticking with the project and it'll be good to have time to work on it when I don't have to worry about another class.
Anyway, that's the what's new with me.
